And some countries don't. Mexico got rid of almost all of its passenger trains practically overnight. Argentina has greatly scaled back its passenger train network. Canada trashed about half of its VIA Rail network in 1990. Everyone was told to either drive, take a bus or fly. Upon hearing that, did the citizens riot in the streets, burn down buildings, George Floyd-style, or vandalize Tesla dealerships?
No, they didn't. They started driving, taking a bus or flying. Take, for example, the low-lifes who fly Spirit Airlines. They used to ride trains. Flying and driving is more reliable anyway. Amtrak likes to cancel trains when clouds start forming in the sky and the wind starts blowing.
Besides, the U.S.A. is now plagued with too many bleeding heart liberal Democrat wackos, like what we saw on display last night, who would rather spend taxpayer dollars on things like gender re-assignment surgeries for prisoners and illegal aliens than using those funds to prop up passenger trains. Kamala Harris has made public statements to that effect.
