My personal preferrence is Scalecoat UP Armor Yellow if I can find it. For the late '70s early '80s era then Floquil. Tru Color is not bad but seems a bit too bright to me for that period and SoundTraxx makes SurroundTraxx a particularly incredible sound system.

Me use it in N scale, with a subwoofer and it's own amp to shake the room!
