LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) - Beginning on Sunday, the City of Long Beach is working to improve its railroad crossings — a project that drivers may notice.

The project includes nine railroad crossings and is expected to take several months to complete. These improvements are in an effort to increase safety and will be done in stages.

Mayor George Bass says the planning for this project spans years.

“We’re ready to move forward,” he explained. “We won’t have trucks stopped on the tracks anymore which is a great relief as it’s a burden we’ve struggled with.”
