Isn't that along the Raton Pass line? If so, it makes sense why there's only two trains per day. BNSF shifted all traffic to the Southern Transcon and only keeps the line open for Amtrak, mainly because it's the historic routing of the Super Chief and also because the Southwest Chief would encounter even more delays using the Southern Transcon all the way from LA to Chicago.
