I’m used to gold-plated transit on the west coast. Pics of the LIRR using old equipment, like GP38s and rebuilt FAs, show that commuter trains can be basic (rust-plated) and economical. We need to adopt the rust-plated mindset out west. Making everything gold is making us poor.
