This afternoon a friend just called me to say he saw a brush cutting machine working from West of Mapleton Oregon towards Eugene. He also reported that the scuttlebutt in the area is that the recent examination of the tunnels which Rail America used as the reason to shut down the line found them in not in as bad a shape as reported. Hopefully the Port of Coos Bay is well on its way to running its first train.
