TODAY'S PHOTO
http://trainnews.webhop.org/trainnews/070209_0001.jpg

This is a photo from a CORP (Central Oregon & Pacific) locomotive crossing a
very old (1914) and rickety swing bridge over the mouth of Coos Bay, Oregon
in September of 2005. It is on its way to Mapleton to drop its load and swap
with the Eugene section of this line. This was the Southernmost SP branch
to the coast in Oregon. Two years later this line would be embargoed and is
still to see any traffic, although the Port Of Coos Bay appears to be ready
to rehab it, which supposedly involves major tunnel repairs, sand clearing,
and start operating it again between Coos Bay and Eugene, OR. I wish them
well.
