The transit industry really needs to address the problem of noisy elevateds. This is an issue that is not going to be wished away.

One solution is to ditch the cheap mentality. I am thinking of Oahu where some surface real estate is worth acquiring - even if it means eminent domain - to prevent an eyesore that will be resented. Preserving the view is worth it in the long run.
