Times have changed (and not for the better) in the 40 years since I was a student at UI. Then, there was a train on the GN branch each day. If I remember correctly, UP had a train each day, too. NP provided the greatest amount of service--three trains a day each way. By my reckoning, there were 9 trains a day on most days--tne GN train laid up overnight.

So, now, two of the largest (in population) towns in North Idaho are without rail service. More's the pity.
