My view is: "If you can't say something nice and rational, then do the rest of us a favor and SHUT UP!"

Getting back to the subject, I doubt restoring #40 and #44 to full operation will be too expensive for SMS or anyone else who wants to do the work; the big question will be whether anyone wants to spend the money needed to install the equipment that will make them compliant with the new EPA standards that are now supposed to be applied to overhauled/rebuilt units. Railroad museums/historical societies and other non-profit organizations with excursion operations might be exempt, but common carriers and industrial operations won't be. We shall see...
