I have never made any secret that my first great interest in full size railroading was San Francisco's Municipal Railway. From seeing a mixture of cars, "Iron Monsters" and PCC's on Market St. to riding the "B"-Geary with my grandmother out the the French Hospital, I was fascinated with it.
After learning of the present day operation of PCC cars in Kenosha, Wisconsin a while back, it was added as a goal to my just completed trip which included Owosso's Rail Fest 2009.
We arrived in Kenosha and readily found the operation in the Harbor Park area of the city. It consists of a little over two miles of track which forms one big loop. The METRA sation on one end and the park on the other. Running on about a fifteen minute headway, one car was making a continuous loop. They have five other cars, four restored TTC PCC's and one SEPTA car undergoing restoration.
Here is what we saw.
