The extension of Amtrak Cascades trains #513 and #516 to and from Vancouver, B.C. not only doubles the daily service, it also provides a single-seat, same-day trip between Vancouver and Portland, Ore.

The extension can also be done within the existing rolling stock fleet, since it involves a simple extension of the existing Portland-Seattle-Bellingham trains.
