"rails make a fair bit of money on it when they do it right,? yup, problem has ALWAYS been inability ot lack of will to "do it right" I remember a tour of a coal fired electrical station served by CSX. Paraphrasing the manager giving us the tour--my biggest headache is I never know when a train will come in. I waste thouands on OT when they bring two in one day, then have no work for the crews for two days. 21st century incompetence for a captive customer. A more recent example, another CSX customer--we bring IN printing supplies by rail--we NEVER ship out finished print runs rail is too slow.
So Kneiling was not a genius, and I disagreed on many points, but rail mgmt still are not the brightest.
my tuppence as a CSX stockholder.
