If you go just a few miles to the west of Lake Oswego, the Portland & Western line through Tigard has more freights and also has, on Mondays thru Fridays, TriMet's Westside Express Service (WES) regional rail trains.

The WES trains use Colorado Railcar DMUs and do operate on a regular schedule. P&W trains usually operate when the commuter rail isn't, although they could operate simultaneously (the WES cars were built for operation in a mixed traffic environment, and the entire line between Beaverton and Wilsonville has CTC and ATC).
