It was a real shame that this locomotive was scrapped. It was really a conspiracy, I think..
Veteran NP photographer "Ron Nixon" was personally involved with the Seattle-based group trying to save that locomotive. The NP was talking, listening and cooperating..
All of a sudden, the locomotive was scrapped. BAM!! Gone.. Just like that!!!
Somebody didn't get the WORD to somebody.... or did they ??
NW rail historian "Warren Wing" was on that 1957 final trip and said that engine ran like a clock.
