The fire was North of Bell Road and East of Hwy 49; the UPRR main line is just South of Bell Road. Point of origin was close to the Bell-49 intersection, and fire progress (and smoke drift) was Northerly, away from the railroad. No mention of the railroad was made on the news broadcasts. Approx. 50 homes lost in a few minutes.
