While much of the scenery on the former Northern Pacific "CW" branch is central and eastern Washington is flat and sagebrush, there are pockets of timber. This area, near mile post 61 (from Cheney) is one such place; deer are abundant here and even a few cougar. Two of Eastern Washington Gateway's SD45's bring a loaded grain train east on 9/19/2009 past a seldom used grade crossing. Picture by Bruce Butler.
