These particular units were assigned to the Los Angeles Division, but other SW1500s commonly worked in the San Jose area, and it's not uncommon to still find them working out of Warm Springs - especially the ones equipped with Remote Control. Oakland's had a couple working there recently, too.
According to Strapac's Southern Pacific Diesel Locomotive Compendium - Volume 2, 2472 was retired by UP on 1/28/99 and 2501 on 5/31/99. Both were part of a group sold to National Railway Equipment in January 2001. 2501 doesn't show a disposition so it's presumed scrapped, but 2472 shows as being resold to Amtrak. 2469 that someone mentioned was retired 10/29/99 and sold to NRE in the same group as the other two, then resold to Birmingham Southern.
