An F unit from the East Coast - Reading Company

Well, news made it's way to the East that an SP Black Widow F unit has been returned to service on the Washington and Idaho (Mid America Rail Car Leasing - FP9 #6304) and we on the East Coast starting getting antsy for the same!

Reading Company Technical and Historical Society #902 and the Philadelphia Chapter of the NRHS #903 got together and pulled off 2 successful weekends of charter on a former Reading Railroad line from Emmaus to Pennsburg, PA (about 45 minutes West of Philadelphia.

Note, these are the same F units (FP7's) that took passengers from Philadelphia to New York on an alternate route than provided by the PRR's Northeast Corridor.

Here are a few photos from the outing - enjoy!

#903 trailed #902 and it was to lead the second week but that didn't pan out. Both units will likely go to Steamtown for a spell rather then returning to Railroad Museum of PA where they were being stored.

Thanks for looking!

/Mitch
