FEATHER RIVER EXPRESS/THE CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR RETURNS. October 30-November 1, 2009 running
over the former route of the Western Pacific and California Zephyr in celebration of the
100th year anniversary of the driving of the last spike at Keddie, that opened the Western Pacific thru the Feather River Canyon and into California. This 100 year celebration train will operate Oakland-Fremont-Niles Canyon-Altamont-Stockton-Sacramento-Marysville-Oroville-Portola on October 30 and return the same route on November 1, 2009 and will consist of three California Zephyr cars. 1 Vista Dome, 1 Sleeper and 1 Vista Dome-rear end observation. This excursion is almost sold out with a few spaces remaining in Pullman Bedroom and Vista Dome both roundtrip and oneway. You can view all of the details and prices by going to: www.traintrips.biz During the layover day on October 31 in Portola the train will be turned at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum using the Western Pacific F units with plenty of photo options. Three additional museum CZ cars are planned to be added to the consist at Portola to make a six car train set with the classic F units. For one way passengers transfers are offered to and from Reno.
