The GPS readings showed that the train consistently ran right at 60 mph for much of the trip. It would occasionally say 59 or 61, which could just as easily be within the accuracy of the GPS as variations in speed, and many of the readings were spot on at 60 mph. I don't know if they had the diesel doing all the work on Cruise Control or what, but it was amazingly uniform.
