Starlight or nothing!

I went for a jaunt to Watsonville Junction today in hopes of seeing the local freight go to Santa Cruz today. By the time I arrived, a single ex-Rio Grande geep was leaving Americold in Watsonville. They were headed back to the depot, so therew was no lumber for Santa Cruz. The train crew changed a light bulb on UP 1371 and tied it down on the engine track. The Hollister Local crew was checking out UP 919, and shut it down on the engine track. It was a no go to Hollister today. The only train left for the day was the Coast Starlight. I headed east towards Aromas, California for the scenic overlook of the Pajaro Valley on San Miguel Canyon Road. The Starlight zipped through at about 11:00AM as the rain was starting to pelt the valley. That was it she wrote, and so goes our slim pickings on the Coast Line these days!
