That's Metra's (Chicago's commuter rail) La Fox station in the immediate background; three miles in the distance is the Elburn station, end of Metra's West Line. The triple track ends at roughly MP 44.0.

I believe the third track was constructed by UP engineering department personnel and funded in great part by Metra.
