Passenger excursions powered by a pair of ex-Reading FP7s were operated on the former Reading Company's Perkiomen Branch between Emmaus and Pennsburg, PA October 3-4 and 10-11, 2009. The two Reading FP7s, Nos. 902 and 903, were painted in the Reading’s distinctive black, green and yellow passenger scheme and coupled back to back on the south end of the consist. Ex-Conrail GP10 No. 7554 was coupled on the north end. The trips were sponsored by the Upper Perkiomen Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society and the East Penn Railway. The two FP7s used on the excursions were part of an order of six FP7s the Reading Company purchased from EMD in 1950. They replaced steam power on their two premier passenger trains, the Philadelphia to New York Crusader and Wall Street, and their two passenger trains between Philadelphia and Pottsville King Coal and Schuylkill. These photos were taken on the October 11th trip, which was mostly sunny all day.
