There is not one word or implication in any version of the "Patriot Act", under either Obama or Bush (there were several versions - signed by both), that outlaws any sort of Photography in public places - railroad or otherwise. Not One word!

Our perceived problem comes from narrow minded and overzealous citizens, and a few obviously under-educated cops. Keep in mind though, that cops have to duty to check out anything they believe is unusual or suspicious, and they may not be personally familiar with the train watching hobby. Familiarizing them with it, is usually all it takes for them to let you be.

Same problem with a few over-zealous public agencies - same solution too.

There are a few real fascist control freaks out there, but their absurd behavior has nothing to do with any federal legislation - just their own holier than thou narrow mindedness. As long as you are not on their property - tell 'em to go F-off!
