To continue the Spirit Lake Thread, the Spirit Lake Historical Society sells a calendar as a fund raiser and the 2010 edition features the I&WN including photos of the shops area, well produced product and might be worth buying before you go exploring to give you an idea what used to be. Local grocery store in Spirit Lake sells it at the service counter, also at the service counter is a binder with more photos of the area. I also agree with the Malden, WA post, been years since I was there, but at that time there was lots to see. As always, be careful about being on private property.
