It's about 50 miles, so the drive time is 45 minutes or so unless there's snow or traffic.

It remains to be seen what UP does with Portola as a home terminal, but it doesn't look promising once everything settles down. As part of the Roseville Hub Agreement signed after the UP/SP merger, UP's had the ability to send Sparks crews to Portola in combination service when needed to augment the Portola boards.
