Remnants of recently-scrapped St. Maries River Railroad log cars are seen outside STMA's shops at St. Maries, Idaho, during the long Thanksgiving Day weekend of 2009. The scrap is being hauled out in gondolas. Numerous log flats remain stored at the west end of the St. Maries Yard, and several miles west of town at Ramsdell. STMA stopped hauling logs this summer, but continues shipping wood products out of St. Maries. The day this photo was taken, there were seven centerbeams nearly finished being loaded at the Stimson mill (formerly Regulus Stud mill), and about a dozen loaded centerbeams at the Potlatch mill.
