work inside Samoa Roundhouse

Lawrence LaBranche and other volunteers prepare a section of track that was laid out at the Samoa Roundhouse on Saturday. Once all the tracks are in place, five steam locomotives will be housed inside, bringing back a piece of Eureka’s lumber history. The Samoa Roundhouse, built in 1893, was the home of John Vance Mill & Lumber Co., and the steam locomotives were used to transport the heavy timber. Daniel Solomon/The Eureka Reporter
