"Monster" slide? You kidding? That is really small for a mud slide. Ask the folks who were at Thistle, Utah.
And you're right, George, that muck would have ended up in the Sound anyway, and does all the time where there is a natural shoreline. Take a look at Fort Casey and Fort Flaggler State Parks. The ecology people are on record as not opposing putting the stuff in the water.
