Any Amtrak detours via the ( ex ? ) BNSF Woodinville Sub would require a pilot engineer; also there is no passenger track speed column in the timetable so any Amtrak trains would be restricted to the freight train maximum of 25 MPH. Busses on I - 5 are faster. In my daily travels yesterday I did see the N/B BNSF Everett trash train ( MT's ), yarded in Auburn; this and other freight traffic could have used the line as a detour. But thanks to WA DOT and their removal of the overpass @ I - 405 in Bellevue, we may never see the line operate in its' entirety again. Also blame BNSF for agreeing to it.
With all the problems between Seattle & Everett limiting access to the Stevens Pass line, has BNSF reopened Stampede Pass to any detours ???
