SP5103 - Thanks so much for the additional details on the "B" to "BC" changes. I knew that there were extra water lines in the airbox, but didn't know specifically what their purpose was. The project of welding a "C" top deck onto a "B" block sounds like it would be a major undertaking. I personally have not seen such an engine. In this day and age it would likely be more practical and cost effective just to pull the "B" engine and replace it with a good condition "C" engine, or even a roots blown 645 for that matter.

Also, thanks Jeff for clarifying the situation with the 3194. It is a good thing that GGRM prioritizes their projects. If you don't you just wind up spinning your wheels and never finishing anything! It is nice that SP 5623 is at Niles. This beautifully restored GP9, former SP 3189, is also a former passenger unit and at least a close cousin to the SP 3194 which was built as T&NO 281.
