This is getting ugly/interesting. I work at a feedmill near Mt. Vernon, north of where this happened. The BNSF called us today to say our Thursday switch was not coming due to the incident. What is interesting, again, according to the BNSF person that spoke to us, this is now being investigated as a possible terrorist attack. The thinking is, due to the location of the crossing, (I've been across it many times, the road climbs a very short and very steep embankment to get up to the tracks), the truck was indeed stolen, the gas pedal tampered with so it could be depressed and stay that way, then driven purposely into the trailing LPG cars in order to cause a major explosion.
Now whether or not this proves to be the case isn't my point for posting. Those of us railfans here in the Pac Nor'west need to be advised, right now BNSF security along the tracks is super ramped up. Be careful railfanning over the next few weeks.
