In discussing the old wartime "Richmond Shipyard Railway" on Trainorders.com this week, that used to operate between Yerba Buena Yard in Emeryville and the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond,
our frequent poster "STASH" made the following observations :
"The Shipyard line ran on outer Cutting to Canal. Then down Canal to Shipyard 3. It never got west of Canal & Cutting. I wonder if any of that old rail along Canal was used by Shipyard trains once? Said rail is being replaced by BNSF for the Honda yard and industries along Canal, I've noticed. The photo I'm attaching from KeyRailPix.org shows Canal Blvd. and that hill to the left (Nicholl Knob) is the one thing still recognizable today. "
So Dave, perhaps this might be the BNSF activity you refer to !!
Cheers.
