Two books you need to read:

The White Cascade by Gary Krist which I suspect this is what you read since its been out a couple years

and

Vis Major by Martin Burwash as uniquely told through the spirit and heart of the GN railroaders who were trying to clear the Pass prior to the slide and after.

Just out a few months ago. Martin's is available through Amazon.com. A good read as is Krist's
