When the Burlington Northern was formed, a major goal for a lot of us railfans was to photograph a consist with one each of the predicessor roads. I got my chance only once, on a foggy morning in October, 1970 at UP Junction, Tacoma. Unfortunately I wasn't in the best spot to photograph a 5 unit consist, nor was it the best of light. Thankfully, I barely squeezed the trailing Quincy unit into the viewfinder before the lead NP F-unit slipped passed through the other edge.
