I forgot to add, in doing my research for "Vis Major," there was talk in the newspapers about the Rogers Pass avalanche as well. Eventhough the Rogers slide that killed so many occured 4 days after the Wellington disaster, there were newspaper reports speculatng that a minor earthquake had shook the area the night of Feb. 28 and thus the two slides were related. There were only a couple of such articles and nothing more was ever said. The two avlanches were probably closer linked to similar snowfall conditions than an earthquake, but it is an interesting side note.
