I'd be shocked if the UP train isn't eastbound Number 116. The photo was taken when it was still ABS and Current of Traffic. Left-hand running was the norm betwen San Bernardino and the flyover at Frost, so that would make the UP train eastbound. Take a look at the UP freight train in your above thread. Same track, but 10 or 15 cars to the east.

116 and 115 were short and typically ran with a single E unit. Might not be able to see it from this angle.

As did OET. I remember Santa Fe specials being operated, but I don't recall any UP.
