When I was small, Tracy was THE place. My Dad made a weekly trip to the "Terminal Grill" for dinner. The entire counter was lined with switch lamps on the floor and a window booth right across from the depot was better than dinner in the diner. Then we'd spend the evening from one end of the yard to the other watching new Baldwins, old 0-6-0's, bad switching moves and heated conversations over yard speakers. Usually we'd end up on the Livermore line to see what steam was heading west and follow it over the Altamont home. What memories.
