As I suspected, my Sunday, October 29, 1989 ATSF System Timetable No. 1 does not list time-carded freights. I believe that method of operating ended with trainorders and the advent of CTC, but I might be wrong.

The Sunday, Sept. 28, 1958 Los Angeles Division and Los Angeles Terminal timetable No. 166 does list two seperate timetable freights on the Harbor District, those being Nos. 141 and 145 Westward and their counterparts 142 and 146 Eastward. The 141 was scheduled to depart Pier A Yard at 5:40 PM and arrive at Redondo Jct. at 7:50 PM.... Note the 24 hour clock is not used in the TT, and bold type does not differentiate between AM and PM.... The 146 was billed to depart Redondo Jct. at 11:01 PM and arrive at Pier A Yard at 1:15 AM, with stops along the way at wonderful little places like Wingfoot/P.E. Crossing, Inglewood (11:51PM), El Segundo/P.E. Crossing as well as exciting Lawndale, Alcoa, Torrance and good 'ol Watson at 12:44 AM!

Personally, I would have rather made a Side Trip on the Redondo District and wandered the 5.4 miles from El Segundo down to Redondo Beach, and cleared up for an extended beans.

And I also forgot to mention in my first post that 'East is even' so if it was the 198 or such it would be called the 198 westbound and the 891 eastbound, 8 being even and the first number. There were two Z trains out of Hobart in LA which I seem to recall being the 891 and the 991 with their counterparts being the 198 and the 199. However, that goes against the directional numbering rule noted above, so someone else out there can probably straighten some of my wrinkles.

Neat stuff, by the way. Too bad about your film decisions of days past. I made similar mistakes, and I'm also dealing with many, many inherited slides shot on RGB film with a camera that had a slow curtain and some kind of awful smog-colored filter.

Oh, well! Thanks to digitization, many of these problems can be overcome, just keep them out of the slide tray.
