The PNWR Rock Train is based out of Reed Pit (Knife River) about 6 miles north of Salem. Although sporatic, the Rock Train typically runs up to Tonquin during the week (generally up in the morning and returning in the afternoon). Occasionally, the Rock Train heads over to Hillsboro and returns the same day. Last week was unusual in that the Rock Train ran over to Hillsboro on Friday, and apparently died, as it returned on Saturday.
