Jim was my uncle, at one time he served as a judge in Point Arena. His wife was Vera &
they both wonderful to me. One of Jims brothers was my grandfather Thomas O Moungovan &
I was close to him also. Tom worked for several railroads: L.E. White Lbr., NWP on the
Albion branch and also with Cal-Western as a hostler when he was much older. I wish I'd
gotten a lot of his experiences down on paper, but one that I do remember was him telling
me of a huge Shay that CWR briefly tried out after the war in logging service. That would
have been Hammond Lbr. Co. 31 or 32, a 90-3 class and sister to Pickering's 33. She didn't
stay there long & eventually was scrapped.
