FYI...Stan Garner's Party Car-Pony Express also has a bar and dance floor, and was used for vending souveniers. The private tack room was a place for Fred to rest after a busy week, as well?
Another chase but a shorter train-this Saturday leaving UPT right after the ML commute to San Berdoo about 9:05 Saturday out to Train Day at the San Berdoo Deport and Museum. Lots of displays will be on hand from BNSF-aka Berkshire Hathaway, and possibly the new Metrolink Commute double deck crash management cab cars (confirmations welcome?). The 3751 will return on Sunday afternoon.
The route will cover the ML San Gabriel sub (former PE down the center of the I-10, former SP from El Monte via Bassett to Pomona, former ATSF Second District Pomona to San Berdoo). Only 2 plus carpools are allowed on weekends for those pacing the train in the Freeway-but don't stop on the Freeway-the CHP will be out in force on this one. BE SAFE! That way we can keep enjoying these events.......
The San Berdoo Museum is a real gem, the Depot has been fully restored and will have ML Saturday and Sunday service running all day at $15.50 round trip from LAUPT. Take the train and make it a full Train Day, save on gas, and don't need to hassle about parking. ML Saturday Schedules at:
