I read somewhere on-line earlier that the late, cool spring weather is being ascribed to the Iceland volcano. I'm no climatologist so cannot say if true, but having some wonderful rain in Sacramento (monsoon ends soon) makes up for the fact that same volcano stranded me and my wife and two daughters in Zurich, Switzerland for an extra (and expensive) week of vacation.
