A few years back when the line was still intact, the UP was relaying some rail up around Vay, Idaho. At this time they had turned their CDA traffic over to BNSF.
On the weekend they were storing the rail train on the CDA lead. I was at CDA Jct waiting to photograph a CP Potash train that was headed south. It just so happened that the UP engineer on the rail train knew me (they were running south ahead of the CP Potash train).. He told me to get on and he backed the railtrain the 2 miles or so on the lead to the fuel dealer. My only ride on the UP CDA line.
When I was a kid they used to run a mixed train from Spokane to CDA each day. Unfortunately I never rode it.
