I believe that the reason it is called Hearst is because it is there where the now Castlewood Country Club is and that was originally one of the Hearst "vacation" houses. In the mid '50's my Cal sorority used to hold formals there and then in the early '60's it was a favorite venue for the San Jose Junior Womans Club fashion shows and I modeled in one of them there. And then a few years later it burned down so what is presently the Castlewood country club is not the original Hearst place.
