Creosote

I confirm that creosote treated timber burns. accidents happen. sabotage happens.

The fire danger on the C&TRS is coal-started fires in the adjoining grass. All trains with coal-burning locomotives are followed by track maintainers with fire suppression equipment and company radios, and support as requested. (There is a GE centercab, for track maintenance)

There are residents to the East of the trestle. Thus the miscreant may have approached along the track from the West, maybe a half mile. The problem would be leaving quickly, or assembling the fusee chain so that the starting of the bundle would allow enough time to leave, but possibly watching from their car until the fire started. There is a primitive road.

Ever used a daisy chain of fusees at a highway obstruction, usually a rock, in the wee hours of the morning?

Next time you visit this remarkable little world, you will see the trestle.

And you will see the movie set station and watertank.

There is a Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum, not open to the public.
