New UP overpass in Fairview, Ore.

Union Pacific recently replaced an old overpass above NE 223rd Avenue in the Portland suburb of Fairview. The overpass on the Graham Line, the former passenger route into Portland, was replaced as part of a road widening project.

The interesting development is that the new overpass was not built to support just the existing single-track line, but is configured so that UP can add a second span as part of a future second main track or passing siding addition to the ROW.
