One more footnote to the trip with 2914. Cal-Nevada had originally planned to run their annual trip on the S.P. Narrow Gauge on Feb. 19th. For reasons unknown to me, that trip was cancelled and the run of the 2914 was substituted on fairly short notice.

The unusual coach which I mentioned in my first posting was referred to by the older enthusiasts who rode the trip that day as a "Jim Crow coach." The seating space was partitioned into White and Non-White areas. I do not recall if there were any signs from the era of segregation still visible in the coach that day.
