Sam, as a retired Navy guy and railfan your photos leave me breathless.

The pic of CG 53 (USS Mobile Bay) with the kids building sand castles in the foreground is as true and vital as to why we have a Navy as any I've ever seen.

During the ship's namesake battle Admiral David Farragut was heard to say "Damn the torpedoes! Four bells. Captain Drayton, go ahead! Jouett, full speed!" This stirring cry was drilled into my and others' memories for the four months we "suffered" through Aviation Officer Candidate school and reminds us that as Americans we should be grateful knowing that ships like her still prowl the oceans for us.
